From Florence to the World – Our History

The Pratesi journey begins in 1948, when Egidio Pratesi, a Florentine artisan displaced during WWII, found himself in Rome. He applied his talent as a costume designer on the film Quo Vadis, forging leather shields for centurions — a creative spark that launched his career

What began as handcrafted leather accessories—keyfobs, belts, picture frames—soon evolved into a workshop producing high-end bags. By the 1960s, Pratesi was supplying Florence’s finest tanneries from our expanding Donnini factory in the Tuscany region Today, a family-run workshop has grown into a modern atelier while remaining rooted in artisanal tradition for nearly eighty years.
